Program Objectives
- Provide clinical and evidence-based content about supportive cancer care and the role and benefits of music therapy in supportive cancer care
- Discuss innovations and strategies in music therapy that work to improve the delivery of supportive care to cancer patients and families across diverse settings
- Promote interdisciplinary agendas and provide opportunities for collaboration and networking.
In addition, this Conference intends to:
- Foster improved knowledge of the multifaceted and evidence-based benefits of music therapy in cancer care;
- Promote the development of innovative and multidisciplinary approaches to improve supportive cancer care in Canada;
- Develop innovative multi site and international clinical trials that could help improve cancer care globally;
- Further improve symptom management with the aim of promoting patient well-being across the continuum of illness and to promote the well being of caregivers of all ages; and to
- Further develop treatment strategies that could address specific patient/caregiver issues; for example, to further explore: the use of music therapy to reduce adverse symptoms in patients; the long term benefits of the use of music therapy to improve overall well-being in cancer survivors; and the use of music therapy to enhance caregiver coping with loss and bereavement
